WAYNE — It seems as though culinary dreams do come true. Yard House, with its eclectic menu items and wide range of draft beers, is coming to Wayne.
Expected to open at Willowbrook Mall in the fall, it will be the second Yard House in New Jersey. The other is located in Moorestown Mall. (Not Morristown in Morris County, but Moorestown near Cherry Hill.) If you cannot wait until the fall to try it, the closest to North Jersey is at Palisades Center, a mall in West Nyack, New York.
So what is Yard House? Here are some fun facts.
It will be 10,885 square feet, on the ground floor of the mall's northwest wing, under Dave & Buster's. (It will be one of 36 eateries there).
The plan calls for a 370-square-foot mezzanine, where 110 kegs will be stored — on top of 66 more on the ground floor — at 37 degrees.
It will have 364 seats, including 31 at the bar. It will be located in the space that was carved out at the mall when Sears downsized to make way for Dave & Buster's.
The restaurant also will have a 483-square-foot patio, for al fresco dining.
It claims to have the 'world's largest selection' of beers on tap. Yard House's variety of domestic and imported beer is for true lager lovers. The restaurant pours six of its own house beers, including Belgian Golden, India Pale Ale and Pilsner.

It also offers more than 100 menu items. The menu features small plates, under 'snacks,' and entrées in seafood, steak and street tacos categories, among many others. Vegan options are available. Under 'house favorites,' there are several chicken dishes. Nashville Hot Chicken, served with pickles and sweet potato pancakes, is one of them. Others include chicken fried rice bowl, Maui pineapple chicken, orange chicken, and abuela's chicken, which includes roasted pasilla, street corn, chipotle sauce, cilantro and spicy rice.
Not into chicken? There's fish & chips, braised short rib ravioli, spicy jambalaya, parmesan-crusted port loin or the pizzas.
The Yard House chain founded in 1996 and purchased by Darden in 2012, has almost 80 restaurants in the nation, mostly west of the Mississippi River. Darden Restaurants Inc., a Florida-based operator of casual- and fine-dining chains, owns Yard House. It is also parent company for Bahama Breeze, LongHorn Steakhouse, Olive Garden and four other chains.
